Glencore to distribute dividend of 10.35 cents a shareCommodities trader, Glencore has said that it will distribute dividend of 10.35 cents a share besides the already announced 5.4 cents to its shareholders.

The Baar, Switzerland-based company said in a statement today that it will offer a dividend of 10.35 cents a share to its customers after it reported an expected 25 per cent fall in net income as the company's trading division was able to offset the fall in commodity prices in the global markets.

Glencore, which is looking to complete its takeover of Xstrata Plc by April 16, had distributed a dividend of $1.07 billion during the previous year to its shareholders. The final dividend that was announced today by the company is subject to an approval by investors and expected to be paid in June.

Ivan Glasenberg, chief executive officer is also the largest shareholder of Glencore International with a stake of 16 per cent that is valued at about $6.3 billion. He is expected to receive a dividend of $173 million for 2012, compared to about $163 million in dividends for 2011 when the company distributed 15 cents a share. Glasenberg has been working with the company since decades and was appointed as CEO in 2002.
