Ten Indian-Americans among 40 finalists of Science Talent Search
A total of ten Indian American students are among the forty finalists in the famous Intel Science Talent Search 2013.
The top 40 finalists were selected from 300 semi-finalists while the competition had received more than 1,700 entries. The finalists will compete in Washington, DC from 7 to 13 March for the title of the winner of Intel Science Talent Search 2013. The Intel Foundation is award $100,000 to the winner of the competition while the total distribution in awards will be about $630,000.
Among the ten Indian American students, three are from California alone. The three include Paulomi Bhattacharya from Cupertino, Pavan Mehrotra from Simi Valley and Sahana Vasudevan from Palo Alto. There were two Indian American finalists, Naomi Shah and Raghav Tripathi from Portland in Oregon.
The other five includes Surya Bhupatiraju from Lexington in Massachusetts; Naethan Mundukur from Louisville in Kentucky; Akshay Padmanabha from Collierville in Tennessee; Raja Selvakumar from Alpharetta in Georgia; and Mayuri Sridhar from Kings Park in New York.
Wendy Hawkins, executive director of the Intel Foundation said, "This year's Intel Science Talent Search finalists are presenting a wide range of research, from optimizing algae oil for biofuel to developing a new treatment for blood cancer."
