Mallya meets Civil Aviation Secretary to discuss revival plan
UB Group chief Vijay Mallya, who is also the chairman of troubled Kingfisher Airlines has held a meeting with Civil Aviation Secretary K N Shrivastava and has discussed steps that the company is taking to revive its operations.
Kingfisher Airlines is set to submit the revival plan to aviation regulator the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). It is believed that Mr. Mallya met Mr. Shrivastava to explained company's plans to reduce debt and pay off various parties including Airports Authority of India (AAI). The meeting between the two went on for about half an hour, according to officials.
"I have briefed him on revival and restart plan. It would be a comprehensive plan. All hurdles will be crossed," Mr. Mallya said.
The airline is applying for the revocation of suspension of its Scheduled Operator's Permit (SOP) or flying license. The DGCA had announced its decision to suspend the airlines licence. The employees of the company have been waiting for their salaries for seven months and the management has only made repeated promises about all payments being cleared soon.
The airline will be required to submit a comprehensive financial and operational plan for reviving the troubled airline services before it gets back its license to fly.
