Detroit Auto show attendance higher than previous year
North American International Auto Show in Detroit has recorded a higher attendance than the previous version of the show, according to the organizers.
Event spokesman Joe Rohatynski said that a total of 770,932 people were at the auto show, the charity preview and industry preview. The increased participation is an indication of a renewed optimism in the auto sector in the country.
Bill Perkins, chairman of 2012 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, said, ""People want to feel good again about the industry, which is now obviously in a better place than it was a few years ago. As a result, this year's show was a 'must-see' event, as the attendance numbers indicate."
The event was opened to public on 14 January, which recorded the highest ever attendance on the opening day in five years at 92,106. Thousands of spectators walked in to check out more than 500 vehicles on display at the show at this year's event everyday. About 101,141 people visited Cobo on the final day of the event on Sunday.
This year's show included more than 40 product unveilings and new exhibits. 22,788 auto suppliers, designers, engineers, and enthusiasts attended Industry Preview representing 28 countries and more than 2,000 companies participated at the event.
