Italian automotive major, Ferrari is planning to offer a new mid-engine V8 sports car, the Ferrari 458 Spider.

The model, which is the hardtop convertible version of the company's superlative 458 Italia, features a different rear deck with downward sloping bodywork towards meshed vents into two rear air intakes integrated into the tail spoiler.

The roof of the model has been designed by company engineers, who used two-dimensional concept to reduce the size, weight and stowage volume of the aluminum built roof. The piece top can move about two-thirds of the way back in just 14-second. Being a convertible has only added 14-second to the coupe and it takes only 3.5 cubic feet of space.

The model is a coupe when the roof is open and when it is closed it has an exclusive spider profile with the dual buttresses. The car is powered by 9,000-rpm V8 engine and the car goes from a standstill to 60 mph in about three seconds.
