Not Many Counted on Maruti in July, Sales Plunged 25.35%

Maruti LogoJuly proved to be a real hot and tough one for Maruti Suzuki India. The monarch of Indian car market went through various twists and turns to ultimately find its sales panting with a sprawl out of 25.35%.

The legendary carmaker, with the punch line “Count on Us”, counted only 75,330 customers in July against 1, 00,857 units sold in July 2010.

The Company has shattered the failure pot over the lackluster market conditions and delays in the production of hatchback swift.

However, the Company is all geared up to launch a new edition of swift from the Manesar plant.

But the issue was not about hatchback alone, Maruti is, apparently, failing on every frontier, which can possibly attributed to the cutthroat competition offered by Hyundai and other rivals.

The production of sedan DZiRE was down by 5,471 units during the month as production was moved from Manesar to Gurgaon.

In addition, cars like Estilo, Swift, Astar have witnessed a dip of 56.02% in sales to 9,099 units from 20,691 units in July last year.

However, the sales of mid-sized sedan SX4 spiked 23.82% to read 2,303 units against 1,860 units in the year-ago month.

Earlier in June, nearly 800 workers went on a 13-day strike at the Manesar plant, which crippled the production and inspired a $90 million in lost output.
