Mazda to produce limited edition variants of MX-5 and Mazda 2Mazda is planning to release the limited edition variants of its MX-5 and Mazda2 models, which are inspired by the MX-5 race car that had a good season this year at the Britcar Production GTN Championship.

The company will offer 500 units of the MX-5 Sport Black and 618 units of its Mazda2 Sport Black sister.

The MX-5 Sport Black weighs 850 kilos and comes with a Brilliant Black hard top which can be folded down electronically and bespoke bodywork in Spirited Green Metallic, Crystal White Pearlescent or Velocity Red mica colours. The company will also offer alloy wheels of 17 inches in dark gunmetal colour.

In the interiors, Mazda offers a black leather finish with contrasting ‘sand colour’ stitching. The steering wheel and its panel come in Piano Black colour. The model is based on the Sport Tech trim level of the 158bhp 2-litre MX-5.

The Mazda2 Sport Black is offered in green and white and comes with gets the badges, plaque and floor mats, and a Sports interior with climate control air-conditioning, a Parrot Bluetooth hands-free system, electric rear windows.

The model is based on five-door 1.3-litre 83bhp Mazda2 in Tamura trim and features matt black 16-inch alloy wheels.

The MX-5 Sport Black is priced at £22,995 while the Mazda2 Sport Black will have a starting of £12,395.
