13-Day Strike Between MSI and Union Finally Ends

13-Day Strike Between MSI and Union Finally EndsAfter a long 13-day deadlock between the management of Maruti Suzuki India and union, the Company took the final decision to reinstate 11 ousted workers at its Manesar plant from tomorrow.

Though any clause of having second union mentioned in the agreement has been bluntly denied by the newly formed Maruti Suzuki Employees Union’s (MSEU) General Secretary Shiv Kumar, Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) has agreed to adopt a soft stance on enforcing no-work-no-pay rule of eight day’s salary cut for every single day of the stir.

The trouble shooter in this battle is believed to be Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, who reported to have met MSI top executives, including Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi, two days ago in the National Capital, to resolve the matter.

However, Shiv Kumar added, “As soon our application, which was submitted on June 3, gets approved by the Haryana Labour Department, MSEU will come into effect”.

Started on June 4, the strike went for 13 long days with both the opposing parties making cross allegations on each other, literally entering into a slugfest. As per estimates, company had suffered a major production loss of 12,600 units, valued at about Rs 630 crore. Moreover, after taking an off in Friday, the union will resume their work on Saturday
