Dell Unveils Inspiron 1525 Laptop With Blu-Ray Players; Cuts XPS Prices
Several makers have scrambled to add up Blu-ray drives/players in their hardware array, after the ending of the high-definition (HD) format war, with Blue ray emerging as winner.
The latest in the list is “Dell,” which has incorporated a Blue-ray dive into its Inspiron 1525 laptop computer, priced at just $879.
The new lightweight laptop Inspiron 1525 features a 15.4-inch HD definition wide aspect display with 720p resolution. It also has an HDMI port, which help users to connect it to high resolution displays and HDTVs without any difficulty.
Currently, the only upgrade is the Blue-ray player disc drive which is fully backwards compatible, and will play as well as burn traditional DVDs and CDs.
In order to back up and store huge amount of digital files including photos, videos, financial records, the users can also select a Blu-ray burner drive, which can easily hold up to 50 GB of data.
The Inspiron 1525 laptop offers designs like Chill, Blossom and Commotion, in a variety of colors including Midnight Blue, Sunshine Yellow and Ruby Red.
Like all Dell’s laptop computers, the Inspiron integrates Broadcom Media PC technology that lets PCs having integrated graphics to play high definition video through a built-in dedicated accelerator situated in a mini-card slot.
The Inspiron 1525 also features Dell MediaDirect technology that provides a one touch, whether the system is powered off or in hibernation mode.
Optional accessories include a slim travel power adapter ($80), Dell travel remote control that slips into the ExpressCard slot ($22), and Creative noise-isolation earphones ($25).
The Inspiron 1525 is already available in the US, Canada and Europe.
Together with the introduction of the Inspiron 1525, Dell has also reduced the prices of select XPS models including two basic models - XPS M1330 and M1530, and the XPS 420 multimedia desktop.
The prices of the basic models XPS M1330 and M1530 have been reduced by $699, and now they are available for a starting price of $1,029 and $999, respectively. The M1330 and M1530 features a 1.66-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 processor, Vista Home Premium, 1GB of memory, and 120-GB hard drive.
In the meantime, the price of the XPS 420 multimedia desktop has been cut by $400, which now starts at $999. It features a 2.4-GHz Intel Core 2 Q6600 quad-core processor, Vista Home Premium, 3GB of memory, and 320-GB hard drive.
