Honda to launch diesel cars by 2012?
There is no denying the fact that Honda has banked on the gasoline version of technology for its success in the India market for years but as the competition has now started to move towards the diesel option and rightfully the consumers are also supporting the move, Honda has no other choice rather than following the trend.
It has been learned that the company is planning to come up with a diesel engine in its cars like Honda City, Jazz and its proposed small car by 2012.
While Honda has been famous for its Civics and Accords so far in the domestic circuit, it is believed that the company will bring the 2.0 litre CrDi diesel engine to the Indian market after its launch in Europe.
It may be noted here that Honda is suffering from an aging portfolio in the Indian market and hence, the company has no other choice to push its sales & marketing force very aggressively to ensure that it is able to maintain its overall growth.
Moreover, the company has recently introduced a new variant of its premium hatchback Jazz in the Indian market.
