India crushes Sri Lanka to win Asia Cup

Asia Cup A 15-year-old title drought for India has come to an end. India has registered an emphatic victory over Sri Lanka in the final of the Asia Cup cricket tournament played at Dambulla.

Last time, India had lifted the cup in the year 1995 defeating Sri Lanka at Sharjah under the captaincy of Mohammad Azharuddin. The defending champions, Sri Lanka, were crushed by 81 runs in a lop-sided final match.

Batting first, the Indians have made 269 runs in their 50 overs. Dinesh Karthik was the top scorer for the Indian innings. He scored 66 runs. In the middle order, Rohit Sharma made 41 and the skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored
38 runs.

India set a target of 269 runs in front of the Sri Lankans but they were all out for 187 runs in 44.4 overs.  

For India, Ashish Nehra picked up four wickets for 40 runs, while Zaheer Khan and Ravindra Jadeja took two wickets each. Chamara Kapugedera was the top scorer for Sri Lanka. He scored 55 runs.
