Despite Father’s day holiday, weekly retail sales go down
The International Council of Shopping Centers' weekly report has said that U. S. retail sales dropped in the week ending June 19, despite the Father's Day holiday.
It has been reported that as compared with the previous week, sales fell 0.5 percent. It was the second consecutive week sales have been down compared with the week earlier.
Compared with the same week a year ago, however, retail sales jumped 2.5 percent, as sales outpaced the same week of 2009 for the third consecutive week.
According to the trade group, last week, sales rose 2.9 percent from the same week a year ago. In the previous week, the year-over-year rise was 3 percent. (With Inputs from Agencies)
