‘Houseful’ outstrips Akki's 'Singh is Kinng'
About 52 crores at the first weekend entails that the actor Akshay Kumar and the actress Deepika Padukone have now relished the leading starts ever of their career, with 'Housefull' exceeding the first week earnings of 'Kambakkth Ishq' and 'OSO' respectively.
While it is rather clear that 'Housefull' will beat the earnings of Akki's largest money makers till date including 'Welcome' and 'Singh is Kinng', both of which hit the 70 crores mark, prospects are miserable that Padukone's 'OSO' record of 88 crores would be beaten.
Release of 'Badmaash Company' means that 'Housefull' did have good rivalry finally. Though it was projected by many that the Shahid-starrer won't be capable of making much of an impact, the reality remains that it has done so indeed owing to which 'Housefull' has taken an early hit.
But, by the coming week being pretty open with only 'Bumm Bumm Bole', 'Admissions Open' and 'Kushti' for competition, the ground is open for both 'Badmaash Company' and 'Housefull' to make a continued impact. That would settle on the ride of 'Housefull' from being a meager hit to a smash hit.
As has been disremembered by the whole film industry, the media also completely dismissed the other release of the week - 'Chase'.
With just a few lakhs coming in its account that which won't be meaningful to recover even the print and promotion expenditure, 'Chase' is a complete failure and doesn't have much in it to make any impact on home video or satellite circuits also. (With Inputs from Agencies)
