NTPC targets 10,000 Megawatt in UP by 2017
India's public sector power major National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has said that it is looking forward to generate 10,000 Megawatt in Uttar Pradesh by the year 2017.
The company is eyeing on a high combined power generation capacity in its plants at UP. Currently the company is producing around 5,500 Megawatts in UP. This total installed capacity is expected to be improved in coming years.
NTPC Executive Director (North) I B Pandey has informed that the company is targeting to touch 10,000 Mw as its total installed capacity at the end of the 12th five year plan. The 12th Five-Year Plan includes the period of 2012 to 2017.
There are 20 power generation units at Singrauli, Rihand, Unchahar and Tanda of NTPC in the Uttar Pradesh. Mr. Pandey has informed that another two units of are going to be added at Rihand. These plants will produce500-Mw each and the production will commence by the year 2012. As per Pandey, the company will come up with Singrauli, Tanda, Meja and Unchahar plants in coming years.
