Well beneath sunken U.S. rig has serious oil leak
An oil well on the ocean ground under a drilling fit that burst out and sank into the Gulf of Mexico began spewing oil. This has been reported by the U. S. coast guard.
The well was under 5,000 feet from ocean surface and was trickling about 1,000 barrels per day of oil. According to the Coast Guard Petty Officer Terrell this has been a major mishap.
He has also informed that the officers and workers of the Coast Guard are working hard to contain the oil. All resources of the Guard have been utilized. The issue over here is of major important as the excess of oil may threaten Louisiana's delicate coastline if the oil is not contained properly as soon as possible.
BP has arranged an armada of ships and aircraft to control the oil smoothly. The stormy seas cleanup operations are currently on hold as well. The blast has happened nearly three weeks after President Barack Obama revealed the policy for a limited growth of U. S. offshore oil and gas drilling. However, the blast has not affected the U. S. oil markets.
