Saturday’s restaurant shooting was "not a random act of violence," says Los Angeles police
Four men were shot to death in a restaurant on Saturday were targeted and the assault was "not a random act of violence," Los Angeles police has said on Sunday.
Police responded at around 4:40 p. m. EDT on Saturday to a call of a shooting at a Mediterranean restaurant in North Hollywood. Officers found three people dead and at least three others wounded inside the restaurant.
It was further reported that the wounded were taken to hospitals, where one of them subsequently died.
According to reports released by police, the victims were identified on Sunday. Hayk Yegnanyan, 25, of Glendale, Calif.; Sarkis Karadjian, 26, of Sherman Oaks, Calif.; and Harut Baburyan, 28, of North Hollywood were dead at the scene while Vardan Tofalyan, 31, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The Los Angeles Times further reported that authorities did not report an address for Tofalyan because his family had not been notified of his death.
All six of the shooting victims had been targeted but investigators did not know why, Deputy Police Chief Kirk Albanese, said.
Albanese further added, "We don't have a crazed gunman running around North Hollywood that presents an immediate threat to public safety, to anyone in their homes or businesses in the area. However, this is also not a random act of violence; this was an intentional act."
Police took a 30-year-old suspect into custody, an unconfirmed report said on Sunday. (With Inputs from Agencies)
