Thousands to lose job in reality sector
If the data released by a report are to be believed, then thousands more jobs will be lost in the state of Queensland. These jobs will be in the construction industry and this loss will happen by the end of this year itself.
As of now, 10,400 jobs have already vanished in the state, during the period of last two years. This was as per the data given by The Access Economics report.
The research which was commissioned by the Urban Development Research Institute has also said that in between 30,000 to 37,000 more jobs are expected to be lost. This is going to happen because of the overall decline in the reality sector, most importantly in the construction business.
Most of the heat is being felt in the Gold and Sunshine coasts. Brisbane and Logan City are also suffering.
The report also mentioned that because of this even the indirect jobs are also going to go down.
As part of the solution, the Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) has asked the government to come up with an Industry Recovery Taskforce. The work of this would be to assess the real situation and to provide definite solution.
