Progesterone -A female sex hormone involved in pregnancy has been found to be worthwhile in fixing brain damage in human beings. The findings of the research have supposedly left a great impact such that a large-scale clinical trial is being programmed to begin in the coming month on more than 1,000 patients suffering from brain injuries.

It was clear from prior test results on laboratory animals that this hormone is safe to use and may help in brain treatments. Although it is still inexplicable as to why the female hormone has a positive effect on injured brain. It is being speculated that preliminary findings shall be effective to guarantee consolidated results.

Progesterone hormone is also called as 'protection hormone'. It is produced during the menstrual cycle, and it attempts to restrict or even reverses the long-term damage that occurs from severe trauma. According to Professor Donald Stein of Emory's School of Medicine when the hormone is injected in the brain, the receptors are immediately activated and signal a fast recovery.
