Research Depicts the Harmful Effects of Sugary Ingredients
The latest study denotes the harmful effects of the sugary ingredient erroneously considered as a healthy method of sweetening in most of the beverages, juices and soft drink these days. It is been identified that the ingredient present in the processed foods and beverages contains the High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) which acts as a recipe to high blood pressure and increasing level of obesity.
As affirmed, the increasing intake of HFC causes the liver to pump fats into the bloodstream that gradually damage arteries.
In order to demonstrate the study, a meticulous test was conducted on the 45,000 adults in US with no prior history of high blood pressure or hypertension. Thereafter, using the dietary questionnaire, participates were asked to rate their Fructose intake consumption of foods such as fruit juices, soft drinks, bakery products and confectionery.
Results of the study proved that, consuming more than 74 grams (equivalent to 2.5 sugary soft drinks) of fructose a day increased the chances of a reading of high blood pressure of
135/85mmHg by 28% as compared to the normal blood pressure said to be a reading of around 120/80 millimeters of mercury (mmHg) depending on age. Furthermore, it also raised the risk of higher readings of 140/90mmHg and 160/100mmHg by 36% and 87% respectively.
"These results indicate that high fructose intake in the form of added sugars is significantly and independently associated with higher blood pressure levels in the US adult population with no previous history of hypertension", noted Dr Diana Jalal and colleagues from the University of Colorado.
