Pearl Jam tops US charts for first time in 13 yearsLos Angeles  - Veteran rockers Pearl Jam have returned to the top of the US pop album chart for the first time in 13 years.

The Seattle rockers sold 189,000 copies of their ninth studio album Backspacer" during the week that ended Sunday, according to Nielsen SoundScan Wednesday.

It was the fourth time at the top for the band, which had number- one hits in 1996 with No Code, in 1994 with Vitalogy and in 1993 with Vs.

Pearl Jam's last studio album, a self-titled release that came out in 2006, debuted and peaked at number two with 279,000 copies sold in its debut week. (dpa)
