Ford India Motor, the fully-owned subsidiary of the US auto major Ford Motors, has decided to spend Rs 1500 crore on expansion.

The company plans to set up new engine manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu, to increase its car production from the current output of 1lakh to 2 lakh per year.

Apart from this, the company also plans to recruit more than 1,000 persons to increase production capacity in their existing unit. The company presently employs 1600 workers in its Chennai plant.
