BCCI appoints Anurag as manager for CT

Anurag ThakurThe Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Anurag Thakur, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HCA) president, as manager of Indian cricket team for the Champions Trophy. The eight-nation tournament will be played in South Africa from September 22 to October 5.

HPCA Joint Secretary Prem Thakur informed that they have received a communiqué from the BCCI confirming appointment of Anurag as Indian cricket team manger for ICC Champions Trophy.

Aunrag had worked as manager of Indian U-19 cricket team in the 2002 World Cup in New Zealand. He was youngest person to be appointed as president of HCA in 2000. He was also involved in a dispute with former BCCI president Sharad Pawar over an issue of control of HCA in 2005-06.

Indian team will play a warm-up match against New Zealand on September 19 before start of their campaign in the Champions Trophy.
