Hungary to take one Guantanamo prisoner
Budapest - Hungary is to accommodate a released prisoner from the US detention camp at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba, Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai said Wednesday morning.
Hungary will within the next few days choose a candidate suitable for settlement in Hungary from a list, Bajnai said in a statement.
The prisoner, probably a Palestinian, will undergo a one-and-a- half-year integration programme in Hungary, a government spokesman said.
US President Barack Obama announced in January that the camp would be closed, with a number of the prisoners not being prosecuted to be released to other countries. (dpa)
