Chinese shuttlers dominated the world badminton championship as Lin Dan and Xie Xingfang of China have stormed in the final of men’s single event of world badminton championship in Hyderabad on Sunday.

Defending champion Lin survived a scare from sixth-seeded Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia and he outplayed his opponent in a three setter semifinal 21-14, 13-21, 21-15 in 63 minutes. Lin had not lost even a single set in his previous four matches in the tournament.

The second-seeded Chen Jin knocked out the fourth-seeded Taufik Hidayat in straight sets 21-16, 21-6 in the other semifinal to set up clash with Lin in the all-Chinese final. Chen won 11 points through smashes and 13 from net against the former world champion Hidayat.

Chinese shuttlers also dominated in the women’s category as Lu Lan and Xie Xingfang will meet each other in the summit clash. Lu Lan outsmarted her compatriot Wang Lin in straight sets 21-18, 21-19 while Xie Xingfang defeated eight seeded Pi Hongyan of France 21-18, 21-8 in semifinal encounter.
