India crushes Ireland by 8 wickets
India has defeated Ireland by 8 wickets in a pool match of the ICC T20 World Cup at Nottingham yesterday.
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first against Ireland in a rain delayed match.
Due to rain, match was rescheduled with a maximum of 18 overs each side. Ireland's top batting order collapsed against brilliant bowling of Indian left arm pacer Zaheer Khan.
The man of the match, Zaheer took four wickets against Ireland with 3 three of these wickets in his first seven deliveries.
Ireland scored 112/8 in 18 overs and AR White was top scorer for Ireland with 29 runs.
India chased target of 113 for loss of two wickets in just 15.3 overs. Rohit Sharma (52 not out) and Gautam Gambhir(37) gave a good opening stand of 77 runs for India against Ireland.
India and Ireland have already qualified to the super eight round of the ICC T20 World Cup.
