Medvedev calls for international piracy court
Moscow - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on Monday called for the creation of an international court to bring Somali pirates to justice, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.
He asked Russian justice officials to discuss the idea with their colleagues in other countries.
"We should discuss the problem from the point of view of our criminal code and consider the possibility of the creation of such an institution to investigate such cases," he said.
Russia's navy detained 29 suspected pirates off the Somali coast last week. Russian authorities believe the detained suspected pirates twice attempted to seize a tanker carrying a Russian crew, but failed.
