Alkmaar want van Gaal decision on future
Munich - Louis Van Gaal has been told by newly-crowned Dutch champions AZ Alkmaar to decide on his future at the club within 10 days, the Dutch news agency ANP reported Monday.
Van Gaal has been linked with Bayern Munich as a successor for Juergen Klinsmann who was dismissed as coach last week.
He has a contract with Alkmaar for another season but Bayern have admitted the 57-year-old coach is a candidate for the coaching job.
Bayern's general manager Uli Hoeness denied Sunday reports that an agreement had been reached in principle with van Gaal, who has previously coached Ajax and Barcelona.
"Louise van Gaal is one of the candidates but there is no signature, no contract and no decision," he said.
The Dutch coach is also reportedly wanted by Belgium as coach of its national football team.
Interim coach Jupp Heynckes is in charge at Bayern - second in the Bundesliga, three points behind Wolfsburg - until the end of the season. (dpa)
