Stewart warns Hamilton not to quit McLaren in a huff
London, Apr. 9 : Ex-racing champion Jackie Stewart has warned Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton that he could destroy his motor racing career if he quit McLaren in a huff.
Stewart, 69, warned: "Lewis and his father, Anthony, need to keep cool heads right now. If he goes elsewhere it could destroy his career, certainly put it in jeopardy."
"Lewis has got to look at the teams that have consistently done it over the years. That is McLaren and Ferrari," Stewart added.
According to The Sun, the world champion's future with the team is on a knife-edge after they told him to lie to race stewards in Australia.
Hamilton, 24, could quit under a `moral' clause in his contract claiming his reputation has been tarnished by their actions.
Representatives of the Woking-based F1 outfit has been asked to appear before a tribunal on matter on April 29 after being charged with bringing the sport into disrepute.
Stewart has questioned whether Hamilton could find a better team than McLaren, despite their current struggles. (ANI)
