Gulabi Talkies shines
Girish Kasaravalli's film Gulabi Talkies, based on noted Kannada writer, Vaidehi's short story has received several accolades and continues to be on a roll. The most recent addition to the list was an award at The Vesoul Film Festival. Director, Kasaravalli is thrilled with the victory and says, “Gulabi Talkies won a jury award at the festival.” Winning amidst stiff competition, adds more weight to the award.”
“The jury felt that the film powerfully projects problems in contemporary India, in an artistic and subtle way through the lead protagonist – Gulabi,” adds Kasaravalli. Gulabi Talkies has been trotting the globe, to many international and national film festivals screening it.
Kasaravalli says, “The film was first screened at the Asian Festival in Delhi, after which we were invited to over ten festivals overseas and also every festival in the country. What pleases me most is that, we hadn't approached any festival.”
Now, is the National Award on the cards? “They haven't constituted a committee as yet. We will have to wait and watch,” Kasaravalli signs off on an optimistic note.
