Abramovich down to his last 7 billion pounds
London, Dec 23 : Russian magnate and Chelsea tycoon Roman Abramovich who is thought to be down to his last 7billion pounds has also ordered a pay freeze for staff on his 72million pounds floating palace Pelorus.
Crew of super yacht owned by mega-rich Chelsea tycoon Roman Abramovich are angry that that their bonuses have been frozen due to the ongoing financial crisis, but the Russian magnate didn't order cutbacks for his club footballers.
Abramovich axed Christmas bonuses for his super yacht crew after losing at least three billion pounds in the credit crunch, The Sun reported.
But last night angry crew members branded him Scroogeski for ordering the cutbacks while still paying stars like Blues idol Frank Lampard 150,000 pound-a-week.
One crew member said: "If he sold just one player, the savings from their wages would give us a good Christmas and a New Year rise with lots to spare."
"Bosses point out he's a good employer and deserves loyalty during the downturn, but his footballers have been left untouched. It's people on modest pay making sacrifices not the stars with their huge mansions."
Oil rich Abramovich, 42, and new love Daria Zhukova, 27, regularly entertain guests aboard 377ft Pelorus, currently at St Barts in the Caribbean. And the 50-strong crew normally receives a month's wages as their Christmas bonus. (ANI)
