Nitish charges Union Govt for being discriminatory with Bihar
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has criticized the Budget calling it a betrayal with the people of Bihar.
Nitish claimed that the Budget has nothing for Bihar.
Speaking on the budget, an angry Nitish said: "I am thoroughly disappointed with the budget, to say the least. It lacks direction and will promote regional disparities. What is really disturbing, Bihar has once again been ignored but we will continue to raise our voice against the raw deal."
The JD (U) leader charged the Union government had done injustice with the people of Bihar by presenting a biased and aimless Budget that would only encourage regional differences.
Though the CM welcomed the rehabilitation package announced for the `Aila' victims of West Bengal, but he is surprised over the rejection of a similar rehabilitation package for the victims of Kosi floods in Bihar.
"The PM had even declared the Kosi tragedy as a national calamity. We, therefore, had made repeated pleas for the Kosi rehabilitation package but that has not materialised. Ironically, the Centre sometime back had sought refund of Rs 1000 crore which was released for carrying relief operations in the Kosi region," said Nitish.
The CM also pointed out that his state was ignored on other areas as well.
Citing the budgetary announcement to open two branches of Aligarh Muslim University, Nitish said Bihar had been denied a branch of AMU although the state government had agreed to provide the land required for it in Kishanganj district.
The Budget had announcements about developing mega clusters of handloom industry in states like West Bengal, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu, but it had totally ignored the handloom industry of Bhagalpur in Bihar, added the Bihar CM.
