New Video shows Jupiter’s Great Red Spot
Scientists have gathered different images that were captured by NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and made a beautiful video showing Jupiter’s Great Red Spot. The video is the first in a series of portraits under NASA’s Outer Planet Atmospheres Legacy (OPAL) Program.
The video can be seen in high-quality 4K and in order to see it, experts have said that people need to set their You Tube settings to 4K viewing or 2160p. As per their suggestion, the video will be best seen on an ultra HD monitor.
In the video, not only famous Great Red Spot but many discoveries made by Hubble's Wide Field Camera 3 could also be seen. Planetary scientist Amy Simon from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland was of the view, “Every time we look at Jupiter, we get tantalizing hints that something really exciting is going on. This time is no exception”.
Scientists explained about Jupiter’s Giant Red Spot that is a huge atmospheric disturbance, could be considered as a storm, in Jupiter’s upper atmosphere. For now, researchers have not been able to know the source behind the storm.
For around 400 years, Jupiter’s red storm has been observed. Scientists said that the red spot could be quite older. Over the last 100 years or may be more, the storm has been shrinking, but the size remains larger than earth. As per recent data, the storm has been shrinking by around 1,000 km per year.
