New Research suggests ‘Men are From Mars, Women are from Venus’ isn’t True
Researchers who tried to find a difference between male brain and female brain concluded that human brains do not fit into one category. There is nothing like male brain or female brain, they added.
Some people believe that a male’s brain is different from a female brain. A new research analyzed over a hundred previous studies and found that on average, a male brain’s volume is about 8% to 13% greater than a female brain’s volume. A last year report in the journal Neuroscience and Biobehavioral Reviews suggested that there could be differences in brain areas that manage memory, behavior, emotion and language.
The researchers tried to find out whether structural differences in male and female brain could convert into cognitive differences. They examined brain scans of over 1,400 males and females. At the end, they didn’t find any pattern that could set men and women apart.
In a study, the researchers wrote that there were differences in brain structure of male and female, but human brains do not fit neatly into male or female categories. “Each brain is a unique mosaic of features, some of which may be more common in females compared with males, others may be more common in males compared with females, and still others may be common in both females and males”, as per the researchers.
The study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Monday concluded that brains of men and women are not really that different.
