New destination for old tunes
Are you one among those who feel today’s songs are lacking in the magic that songs from yesteryears are famed for? Karunaada Sangeetha Vaibhava might be the album to bring in the much sought-after change.
Dwelling on the musical repertoire from the golden era of Kannada film music, India Tales has brought out a compilation that traces the journey of Kannada music over the years. Yogish D, creative director at India Tales Media Private Limited, says, “The album re-creates magic of yesteryear songs while retaining its originality and melody. Each song is unique in its own right.”
The album is a tribute to evergreen music directors Rajan–Nagendra. “The collection features 60 carefully chosen songs that have been featured in five different CDs according to various genres. There’s Aradhane or devotional songs, Anubandha or romantic melodies, Aadumathu or catchy folklore, Anudhina or contemporary music and the CD called Arpane that has been dedicated to Dr Rajkumar,” explains Yogish.
Some of the biggest singers in the country have been part of this album. “The list of singers includes SP Balasubramanyam, Chitra, Rajesh Krishnan, Ajay Warriar, Divya Raghavan and Laxmi among others,” says Yogish.
