Myer expects online sales to account for 10% in five years

Myer expects online sales to account for 10% in five yearsBernie Brookes, the head of Myer has said that the he expects the online sales to grow in the coming years and account for 10 per cent of the total sales of the company.

The online sales of the department store chain currently accounts for less than one percent of its total sales. Mr Brookes admitted that internet sales form only a small part of the business but he pointed out that several other retailers around the world generate about 10 per cent of their sales online and Myer can also achieve the same in the coming years.

He admitted that the company's online retail website is not of the highest quality but it offers an entry point to the online retail market to the company. The company has recorded 14 million visits to its website and is aiming to convert a high percentage of that into sales in the coming future.

The company had added a review section allowing customers to upload pictures of themselves with the products on the website. "We will continue to implement a significant pipeline of further enhancements for our website, building on the merchandise offer and site functionality," Mr Brookes said.
