Mumbai attacks: Pak shares details of persons arrested with US
Islamabad, Jan 16 : Pakistan has shared with the United States the list and other details of persons arrested in connection with the Mumbai terror attacks.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani's adviser on Interior Affairs Rehman Malik said that so far the Pakistani authorities have arrested 124 people.
"We have got a list of the arrested people," Dawn quoted a US diplomat, as saying.
The exchange was done by the security agencies directly without involving the Foreign Office, the sources said.
Meanwhile, the Foreign Office on Thursday said that a FIA led inquiry team has been constituted by the Interior Ministry to probe the matter.
Foreign Office Spokesman Muhammad Sadiq stated this in the second online briefing.
Replying to a question if Pakistan was convinced about the involvement of the Lashkar-e-Taiba in the Mumbai attack, the spokesman said: "As for LeT or any other group, the subject is presently under probe/inquiry by our concerned authorities."
The information received from India, he said, has been given to Ministry of Interior for inquiry into the matter.
The spokesman expected that India would respond positively to Pakistan's proposal for cooperation in the investigations.
He used the occasion to urge India to show statesmanship and return to dialogue for resolving the outstanding issues instead of walking into the trap of terrorists out to damage the relations of both the countries.
He reminded India that Pakistan had adopted a positive cooperative mode and that bilaterally it had offered India all possible assistance to investigate the incident. (ANI)
