Motorola unveils plans to enter Set-top box market in India
Motorola, a well-known technology major, is planning to increase its product portfolio in the country by launching its range of set top box for broadband and cable TV access.
The move to introduce the product in the country is part of Motorola’s strategy to increase its focus on the home segment.
The Company plans to start initially with analogue boxes and after that with digital version as well. It also plans to bid for the BSNL project where the firm has requirement of 8 million boxes.
The set top box market is estimated to be around Rs 2,000 crore. There are a number of large players already in this space competing for a larger share, making it a challenge for Motorola to break into the market.
Last month, Motorola had acquired China-based set top box manufacturer, Dahua Digital.
