Mercury brand not to be missed much
Mercury, one of the ones famous car brands in US, has been stopped altogether ever since April. In that month only one unit of the beleaguered brand was sold. And after that everything from production to selling of the car was halted.
Yet, the figures suggest that it was not missed much. While the car that was launched back in the 80s was an instant hit, the brand lost sales over the years. As most of the brands with Ford have faced, so has been the fate of this car as well.
Started during 1943, the brand was acquired by Ford in 2001. And even while the sales of automobile industry has picked in America after the recession, the same did not happen with Mercury.
The month of May has been the best in terms of sales. The biggest beneficiary was Chrysler, that jumped by 37.2 per cent during the month followed by Nissan and Ford. They showed a jump of 24.1 and 22 per cent respectively.
Ironically, the announcement of the stopping of Mercury was done on the same day when the national auto sales data was released. The numbers there jumped up by 19 per cent.
