Mayawati gives its approval to file chargesheet against Varun It seems that problems for Varun Gandhi are here to stay.

In a significant move, the government of Uttar Pradesh headed by Chief Minister Kumari Mayawati on Friday gave the green signal for filing of chargesheet against BJP MP Varun Gandhi for making allegedly inflammatory speeches in Pilibhit.

This move of the state government is considered a step closer to Varun's trial in the case.

Giving the information to the media persons, Mahesh Gupta, secretary (home) said: "The government has given a go-ahead to the district magistrate of Pilibhit to file chargesheet against Varun, who is accused of delivering inflammatory speeches during Lok Sabha polls."

The decision came after the Pilibhit district administration received a report from Forensic Science Laboratory in Chandigarh which confirmed that the voice in the recording was of Varun Gandhi.

It is also learnt that the state Home Department had earlier sought advice from the Legal Department, which favoured prosecution of Varun.

Last month, the police had sought permission to file a chargesheet against 29 year old BJP leader.

It may be recalled here that Varun allegedly made hate speeches at Barkehra village on March 8 and is also accused of inciting communal passions in Desh Nagar locality on March 7 during his campaign rallies.

At present, Varun is out on bail.
