Maruti Suzuki Posts 30% Growth In April Sales

Maruti SuzukiMaruti Suzuki has announced that its sales during the last month (April 2010) grew around 30% to 93,058 units as against the corresponding month of 2009.

India's biggest car manufacturer sold 71,748 vehicles during the last month. Export figures increased by 89% at 13,024 units in April.

The growth in company's sales occurred in spite of an increase in prices of all company's cars by around Rs 10,000 on April 2 following an augmentation in input costs and launching of new emission regulations.

Sales in the compact car (A2) section including Alto, Wagon-R, Zen, Swift, Ritz and A-Star surged 20.5% at 56,416 units over April 2009.

Sales of models in its mid-sized (A3) sector including SX4 and D'Zire grew 41.4% to 9,994 cars.

But, the multi-utility section witnessed a slump of 21.3%at 712 units.

Sale of its once-flagship model, Maruti 800, also witnessed a fall of 3.7%at 2,258 units. Maruti 800 is being terminated and sales were supposed to be stopped in 13 cities from April. (With Inputs from Agencies)
