Markets end flat, power and capital goods lose
On Tuesday, the benchmark indices ended flat after showing a lackluster performance during the day.
While the Bombay Stock Exchange's Sensex ended at 8,048.85, down 1.93 points or 0.01 per cent, National Stock Exchange's Nifty was no different. It was down by 4.15 points or 0.08 per cent.
BSE touched an intraday high of 18140.15 and low of 18026 in today's trade, while Nifty was at intraday high of 5443.55 and low of 5410.10.
During the day bank and realty stocks gained ground while the power and capital good stocks lost space.
Also the BSE Midcap Index was up 0.60 per cent and the BSE Smallcap Index was higher by 0.34 per cent.
Analysts said that the Nifty is already trading at the narrow range of 5350-5490 for the past 5 weeks.
As per the technical features it will be entering into the long term width of 4800-5400 and on the upper side it can go above 5220.
Amongst the top gainers were Hindalco Industries (2.34 per cent), HDFC Bank (1.86 per cent), Reliance Communications (1.50 per cent), HDFC (1.26 per cent) and ITC (0.85 per cent).
