Kolkata, Oct 20 : A group of around 100 armed Maoists attacked a police station in West Midnapore district and killed a police official there Tuesday.

Police said the heavily armed rebels raided the Sankrail police station in Jhargram subdivision and shot dead the station's second officer.    

The Maoists also raided a bank close to the police station.    

A television channel reported that the ultras also abducted the officer in charge of the police station, but there was no confirmation.
