Washington - Multiple sources confirmed that one person was killed Sunday when a man opened fire in the middle of a church service.

At least six other attendants were severely injured during the shooting in Knoxville in the US state of Tennessee.

Volunteer TV News said that the victim was killed in the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church during a production of Annie, Jr.

The shooter, who slightly injured another 12 churchgoers, was arrested after the incident, reports said, adding that the shooter allegedly had no connection to the church. (dpa)
