Mahindra Satyam acquires vCustomer’s international operationsIndian It major, Mahindra Satyam has acquired the international operations of US-based business process outsouring firm, vCustomer under a deal worth $27 million.

The acquisition of the BPO firm expands Mahindra Satyam's presence in retail and consumer technology field. This is the first fell acquisition by Mahindra Satyam since it became part of the Mahindra Group, a statement from the company said.

Mr C. P. Gurnani, Chief Executive Officer said in a statement, "This is the first 100 per cent acquisition by Mahindra Satyam since it became part of the Mahindra group."

He said that combining vCustomer's expertise in the fields of retail and consumer technology field with Mahindra Satyam's domain expertise and customer base will strengthen the company's ability to cater to the market needs.

The statement also said that the acquisition is a landmark moment for the company and points out the appetite to enhance domain depth and global scale across diverse verticals. Tech Mahindra acquired Mahindra Satyam in April 2009 following the country's biggest corporate scandal involving following founder B. Ramalinga Raju.

Mahindra Satyam had recorded an increase of 29.4 per cent in its consolidated net profit to Rs 308 crore in the quarter till December 2011.
