MahaVitran raised power tariff by 4%
Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MahaVitaran) has raised the power tariff by 4.2% with the approval of state power regulator. The revised tariffs will be in effect from August 1.
Maharashtra Energy Regulatory Commission (MERC) on Friday sanctioned the increase of just 4% on variable charges, as a hike of 32% was demanded by Maharashtra Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL).
However, there is no modification in fixed charges of Rs 30 per month for single phase and Rs 100 per month for three phase connections. As fixed charges of Rs
150/month will be charged by the low-voltage commercial power consumers.
The tariffs for the industries using high-voltage power will be Rs 150 per kVA per month and energy rates of Rs 5.05 each unit. The railways will have to give energy charges of Rs 5.35 each unit. The tariffs for group housing societies will be Rs 125 per kVA per month and the energy rates are Rs 3.60 each unit.
For commercial power consumers, the rise of average 6% has been permitted, as 40% hike was demanded by MSEDCL. The average billing rate for temporary connections has been decreased by 12% to Rs 11.14 from being Rs 12.63.
