London, March 3 : Peeved travellers have voted Britain’s 10 worst hotels in an online forum.

The list, compiled by travel site TripAdvisor. com, was based on the rankings provided by guests, who rated the hotels from one to five stars.

Topping the worst hotel list was Cromwell Crown in London, which though offered rooms at an average 50-pound-a-night but failed to please few of those who chose to stay there.

Eighty-one out of 102 people gave the hotel just one or two stars, with some dubbing their experience at the hotel as “worst ever”.

Another London hotel, Corbigoes, landed itself at the second position while Nanford Guest House, Oxford, Cosmopolitan Hotel, Brighton and Eden Plaza Hotel, London made it to the remaining lot of worst top five.

"It is disappointing that many hotels across the land are still lacking basic cleanliness and hygiene standards,” the Telegraph quoted Frances Tuke, from the Association of British Travel Agents, as saying.

"It''s not good enough to have hotels like this representing our country. And it is worrying to see that London - the nation''s tourism hub - seems to be plagued by them,” Frances added.
