Khan, Afridi deadlock comes to end in secret ‘truce’ meeting

Khan, Afridi deadlock comes to end in secret ‘truce’ meetingLahore, Oct. 24 : Pakistan cricket captain Younis Khan and his deputy Shahid Afridi have reportedly resolved their differences during a close-door meeting arranged by the officials of a local team which both the players represent.

According to sources privy to the development, the truce meeting between the players was organized by Sports Division Head of Habib Bank Limited, Abdul Raquib with the view that the nation needed a united team for the packed cricketing schedule ahead.

“There was obviously some misunderstanding between the two. They have also realised that some people and players in the team were trying to create a wedge between them for their own sake,” The Daily Times quoted sources, as saying.

Speculations were rife that Afridi may take over the captaincy from Khan following the latter’s resignation from the post recently.

But with the stalemate between Khan and the PCB being resolved and the board agreeing to retain Khan as the skipper of the national squad till 2011, Pakistan cricket fans can hope for better results from their team in tournaments ahead. (ANI)
