Karnataka Assembly polls to be held in May

Bangalore, Mar 20 : The Election Commission (EC) has decided to hold Karnataka Assembly Elections in the third week of May this year.

EC sources said the decision has been taken after considering a report by the Intelligence Bureau (IB), which had stated that it would be most feasible to hold elections before May end as no other state will be holding polls and maximum number of security forces could be deployed in Karanataka at that time.

The exact dates of elections are yet to be announced.

Karnataka has been under the rule of the President since December 28, 2007. (ANI)
