Jordan hotels refuse to host Israeli embassy celebration

Jordan MapAmman - A coalition of Jordanian opposition parties and trade unions on Thursday hailed what they called a refusal by all hotels in Amman to host an Israeli embassy celebration marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Jewish state.

"We highly appreciate the refusal of all hotels in Amman for the second year in a row to host a celebration marking the usurpation of Palestine," The Higher Committee for Confronting Normalization with Israel said in a statement.

"This national stand reflects the awareness by the hotel administrations of the dangers implicit in the Zionist project and helps to keep the Zionist entity isolated despite the unjust peace agreements it so far signed with some Arab governments," the committee added.

The panel comprises seven opposition parties and 14 trade unions which have refused to endorse a peace treaty the Jordanian government signed with Israel in 1994.

Last year, all Jordanian hotels reportedly refused to host a celebration marking the Independence Day of Israel. (dpa)
