Job openings fall to 3.76 million in April in the US
According to the latest data released, the total number of job openings in the US fell by 118,000 to 3.76 million during the month of April, 2013.
The Labor Department said that the total number of jobs waiting to be filled fell to 3.76 million compared to 3.88 million in March, indicating that the employers are waiting to assess the impact of government spending cuts and higher taxes before hiring more staff. It is believed that it would become difficult for the US economy to add jobs at a faster pace due to spending cuts and slower growth.
According to a new report, the American economy added a total of just 135,000 jobs during the month of May indicating that the federal budget cuts are impact the economic growth in the world's largest economy. Private payroll processor ADP said on Wednesday that out of the 135,000 jobs added in the month, small business account for the highest at 58,000 while medium-sized businesses and large businesses each created about 39,000 jobs during the month.
The Federal Reserve has indicated that it would begin bond purchases after assessing the growth in hiring in the world's largest economy.
